It is true, Friday is the end of the 5th Marking Period!!  We are starting our last Unit in Reading and are on lesson 25.  Our story is about animals and we will finally start our research paper on animals at the end of the week – this writing will also tie in with our science Unit on Organisms.  In Science, your student has compared and contrasted millipedes and pill bugs – I was proud of the class in that all of the kids actually handled the millipedes!!  I am very happy with our success in Math and we should finish all of our lessons by the end of May.  

We have our filed trip to Bellevue State Park on May 14th.  The cost for this trip is $7.00.  Please return the field trip form filled-in and signed along with the $7.00 in cash, by May 1st.  If your child is buying lunch, please return the lunch form, as well.  Would you like to chaperone?  Space is limited on our bus but you can arrange to meet us at the park.  Sorry, brothers and sisters are not allowed.

Students should finish their book report “sandwiches” to share at our “picnic” on Tuesday.  We will have some cookies and juice to celebrate our love of reading!! 

We have started our final Science unit on organisms.  As part of this unit the students will be doing a “research” project on their favorite animal.  Details will follow later this week or next.  

Are you reading with your child every night?  If so, write down what you’ve read on their reading log so your child can earn a prize!
